Kentucky Bariatric Institute Opens Third Location at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Expanding Access to Comprehensive Weight Loss Care

Kentucky Bariatric Institute (KBI) today announced the opening of its third location at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. The expansion increases access to comprehensive bariatric care for patients in northeastern Kentucky and southern Ohio, offering a coordinated approach close to home.

Through this expansion, Kentucky Bariatric Institute will provide pre- and post-surgical services in Maysville, including medical weight management, dietitian services, patient education, and long-term follow-up care. Bariatric surgical procedures will be performed at Centerpoint Health – Georgetown, a Lifepoint Health sister facility to Meadowview Regional Medical Center, ensuring patients have access to advanced surgical technology and a well-established bariatric surgery program.

“Opening our third location at Meadowview Regional Medical Center allows us to bring comprehensive bariatric care closer to patients while leveraging the strength of our broader Lifepoint Health network,” said Dr. Eric Smith, medical director and bariatric surgeon with Kentucky Bariatric Institute. “Patients will complete much of their journey locally in Maysville while undergoing surgery at Centerpoint Health – Georgetown, where we have a highly experienced surgical team and advanced robotic capabilities. Most preoperative care, check-ups and long-term follow-ups will be available at the Maysville clinic for enhanced access and ease for patients. This coordinated model ensures both convenience and clinical excellence.”

As part of the program, many pre-surgical requirements will also be completed locally through Meadowview Regional Medical Center physicians and providers. This includes cardiology and pulmonary clearances, as well as endoscopic procedures such as EGDs, helping streamline the process and reduce the need for extensive travel during the preparation phase.
