Meadowview Regional Medical Center Welcomes General Surgeons Dr. Sharon Lawrence and Dr. Shaylyn Bennett

Meadowview Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Sharon Lawrence, M.D., and Shaylyn Bennett, M.D., have joined its medical staff as locum general surgeons. They will provide a broad range of surgical services to patients in Maysville and the surrounding Buffalo Trace region.

Lawrence is a board-certified general surgeon with expertise in both inpatient and outpatient procedures. She performs a wide variety of surgeries, including appendectomies, cholecystectomies (gallbladder removal), hernia repairs, skin and soft tissue excisions, and bowel resections for benign disease. Additionally, she has extensive experience providing acute care surgical services for both adults and children.

Dr. Bennett is a board-certified general surgeon with over 14 years of clinical experience. She specializes in comprehensive surgical care, with expertise in colon removal (colectomy), chronic wound care, negative pressure wound therapy, and abscess drainage.  She also treats conditions such as cellulitis, abdominal pain, bowel obstructions, and various types of hernias.

Dr. Lawrence attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for her undergraduate studies and earned her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her General Surgery residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2021 and has received specialized training in robotic surgery through programs at Duke University.

Dr. Bennett completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Toledo. She finished her residency training at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, specializing in general surgery in 2017. She is an expert in treating complex abdominal issues and serious chronic wounds.
