Meadowview Regional Medical Center announces the retirement of Suzy Carver, RN, a cornerstone of the local nursing community, after a distinguished 44-year career dedicated to patient care in Maysville.
A lifelong resident of the area, Carver is a graduate of Maysville High School. She began her journey into healthcare at Maysville Community College (now Maysville Community and Technical College), where she earned her Registered Nursing degree. Her storied career began at the historic Hayswood Hospital before she transitioned to Meadowview Regional, where she has spent decades serving her neighbors and friends.
Over the course of more than four remarkable decades, Carver became a versatile fixture within the hospital. Her expertise spans nearly every department, including Medical-Surgical, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and the Emergency Room. She also served as House Supervisor and worked in Outpatient Surgery and Case Management. She concludes her career in Pre-Admit Testing, where her experience helped prepare countless patients for successful procedures.
“Suzy represents the very heart of community nursing,” said Kathy Vancampen, CEO of Meadowview Regional Medical Center. “For 44 years, she has been a steady, compassionate presence for our patients during their most vulnerable moments. Her legacy is woven into the history of healthcare in Maysville, and while we will miss her deeply, we are incredibly grateful for her decades of service.”
Jane Ritter, Chief Nursing Officer, added, “Suzy’s career is a masterclass in clinical excellence and adaptability. From the fast pace of the ER to the complexities of Case Management, she handled every role with grace and a primary focus on the patient. She has been a mentor to many and a friend to all.”
Reflecting on her long journey in healthcare, Suzy Carver shared: “It has been an absolute honor to care for this community for the past 44 years. From my early days at Hayswood to my final days here at Meadowview, the patients and my colleagues have become like family. While I will miss the hospital, I am so looking forward to this next chapter.”
In retirement, Suzy plans to trade the hospital halls for quality time with those she loves most. Her immediate plans include enjoying more time with her mother and doting on her "darling little grandchildren."
Meadowview Regional Medical Center invites the community to join them in congratulating Suzy on an incredible career. The dedication of 44 years is an amazing milestone.
